Mercury in Corn Syrup

Every time I take a swig of Mountain Dew now, I'm going to be
visualizing how they use hydrochloric acid and caustic soda to
dissolve corn into high-fructose corn syrup. In vats made of mercury.
 
Yum.

Uh-huh. Yeah. Sure.
 
It seems intuitive that a substance that is 1000 times sweeter per
gram than sugar is more natural and less likely to hurt you...
